[Tûbâ] kelimesi hem cennetteki bir ağacın adıdır; hem misk gibi kokan temiz şey demektir; hem de "ne mutlu" manasına gelmektedir.

"İman edip, salihatı yapanlar" terkibini "İman edip iyi işler yapanlar" diye çevirmek doğru değildir. Salihatı yapmak iyi işler yapmaktan farklı anlama sahiptir. Salihat, davranış yolu ile bütünüyle dışa yansıyan imandır. Bu sözcüğün karşıtı "seyyiat" yani kötülük sözcüğüdür. Salihat, kötülüğe karşı mücadele etmek, bozuk olan şeyi düzeltmeye çalışmak, yapıcı olmak, iyi olmak ve iyiye yönlendirmek demektir.
